Things can't be all that bad...

I've written the entries for my conference trip, but I probably won't post them until tomorrow. Meanwhile, I got home and was confronted by some ludicrous news. I know there's a tremendous irony that, had he been assessed for a Nobel Science Prize, his work wouldn't have been eligible for at least a good decade or so, but being assessed for peace rather than science, well, we've seen the results, haven't we.

I've actually managed to get hold of the committee's discussions surrounding the recipient, and will post them below. And to head off a question from my mother, remember that this isn't a joke: this is serious mum.

There's violence on the planet,
And politicians telling lies:
But things can't be all that bad
Let's give Al Gore the Prize.

There's genocide in Darfur.
Burmese monks cut down; world sighs.
But things can't be all that bad
Let's give Al Gore the Prize.

No one won in '48;
Gandhi's deeds never up to size
But things can't be all that bad
Let's give Al Gore the Prize.

The impossible happened this year
Peace broke out in the Emerald Isle
But things can't be all that bad
Let's give Al Gore the Prize.

"Climate change is" blah blah blah,
And yet the man still flies
But things can't be all that bad
Let's give Al Gore the Prize.

Please feel free to comment. I value dialogue and want other people's involvement. Please put your email address in. I will publish pretty much any comment which is made, but if you do not give your email address, I reserve the right not to publish your comment. I will not pass on or publish an email address (unless you specifically ask me to), but I may want to verify details, and cannot do this without an email address. Besides, its polite. Also, feel free to put in html tags. If you don't, I will stick them in, but I will just stick in simple ones. If you want anything more, you'll have to do it yourself.
